On the first Thursdays of every month, we cook and deliver a meal to homeless teens at the Jackson Street Youth Shelter, a program under the umbrella of YouthCare. This ministry serves a specific youth population: teens who have committed to continuing in school or working a job. The staff provides semi-permanent living space, stability and support to help these young people pursue and achieve their goals, away from street life. We are proud to support them, and often include items like toiletries, socks, razors, second-hand clothing and backpacks with our meal deliveries.

The first two Thursday mornings every month volunteers gather for a couple of hours after morning mass to prepare homemade soup for the Lazarus Day Center. Some assist with preparation of the ingredients (that the first graders donate), others are cooking and still others deliver the soup to its destination. A very rewarding opportunity to feed the hungry. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.

Westside Interfaith Network (WIN) supports the Welcome Table each Saturday in White Center at the Body of Christ Church providing a meal and supplies for people in need. If you are interested in donating, there is a collection bin in the narthex of the Church. The most need items are toothpaste, deodorant, laundry sheets, disposable razors, Band-Aids, coats, gloves, boots, blankets, and tarps.

Homebound Ministry supports all those who are incapable of coming to Mass and receiving the Body of Christ. Most who would benefit from this ministry are the elderly or sick and live locally around West Seattle. Homebound ministers must be trained as EMHC's (Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion). You would be assigned a person to bring communion to weekly or bi-weekly. This is a wonderful opportunity to help those in our community that rely on others the most in the most important part of the Catholic faith! Many of those who are homebound also very much enjoy the weekly visits and company of others as well. If you are interested, we will get you certified and trained in no time!
