The school committee finally settled on interviewing untrained teachers (high school-leavers). In consultation with the school committee we agreed to hire three who would share a pay equivalent to one graduate teacher. The following were the recruits who passed the interview on 3rdDecember 2010. As at now (January 2011) they are already reporting for duty.
Bildad Karani Ibarua – Born 1990.
Bildad completed high school in 2009 with grade C+.
He has not had any college training, as his parents are
unable to raise the fees. He is third in a family of 4 boys and one girl.
Completed high school in 2005 with grade B-,
and then trained as a primary (Grade) school teacher.
From a family of seven children; five boys and two girls.
Janerex Musumba – Born 14th January 1990
Janerex is 3rd in a family of twelve: 4 girls and 8 boys.
Completed high school in 2005, with Grade B. She
has been unable to join college because her parents are unable
to raise the fees.
