• The school had 38 students at end of last year (it should accommodate more than three times that number once the needed facilities are in place).
• This is its 3^rdyear since inception. We expect the student enrolment to improve this year.
• Immediate needs include more teacher recruitment, two new classrooms a science laboratory and a library.

The purpose of the interview was to recruit a graduate high school teacher for this new school whose only trained teacher is the Principal, Mr Wycliffe Juma.

• About four graduate teachers were identified and informed to come for the interview.
• Three successive interview dates came and passed, none of them showed up. It turned out that no graduate teacher is willing to come and teach in such a new and very poor village school. They would mostly go for something more established, or preferably to the more ‘lucrative’ city schools.

The school committee finally settled on interviewing untrained teachers (high school-leavers). In consultation with the school committee we agreed to hire three who would share a pay equivalent to one graduate teacher. The following were the recruits who passed the interview on 3^rdDecember 2010. As at now (January 2011) they are already reporting for duty.



Bildad Karani Ibarua – Born 1990.

Bildad completed high school in 2009 with grade C+.
He has not had any college training, as his parents are
unable to raise the fees. He is third in a family of 4 boys and one girl.

Douglas Wafula –Born 1986.

Completed high school in 2005 with grade B-,
and then trained as a primary (Grade) school teacher.
From a family of seven children; five boys and two girls.

Janerex Musumba – Born 14^th January 1990

Janerex is 3^rd in a family of twelve: 4 girls and 8 boys.
Completed high school in 2005, with Grade B. She
has been unable to join college because her parents are unable
to raise the fees.
