Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a wonderful way for our children to experience the Liturgy of the Word and to gain better understanding of Scripture. Holy Rosary's Children's Ministries volunteers have been offering CLOW during our family Mass time for many years. We are blessed to have faith-filled volunteers who love teaching and interacting with our Children.
CLOW celebrates the Liturgy through a "kid's eye" point of view. We try to do this by allowing them to celebrate God's word at their own pace, giving them the opportunity to ask questions, to interact and to offer their thoughts and reflections, following the pattern of normal congregational Liturgy. It is designed to create a sense of belonging. You would be amazed at how much the children understand and remember from the Scripture passages.
Children have the right to hear what God has to say to them and God wants to speak to children as well as to adults. During Mass, the Scriptures are proclaimed in adult language which children cannot comprehend as well. CLOW invites them to share their thoughts and experiences for the day. This enables them to discover and recognize themselves in the story proclaimed in the Gospel. When they make the discovery from their experience, they can then thank, praise, and bless God in their daily lives.
CLOW is provided during the Sunday, 10:30am Mass and is for children, Preschool age thru 3
rd grade. It is free and requires no registration. Beginning with the proclamation of the Scripture readings, children are invited to come forward and are quietly led to the Parish Center. Children rejoin their parents in church at the Offertory of the Mass. We would love to continue this vital ministry during the summer months. We have many volunteers in place but can always use more.
