FAITH FORMATION
Registration Form

Preschool and Elementary

For children who do not attend Catholic school Faith Formation Classes will begin Sunday, October 3, at 9:30 and last until 10:45am. For those of you who had your children in our program last year, both preschool and elementary, registration forms will be mailed to you the last week of August. For those of you coming to the program for the first time this fall, you may pick up a registration form at the parish office or request that one be mailed to you via phone, email, or download the form from the parish website.

Parents of Children in Faith Formation:

Following the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Seattle, children must have one year of religious instruction before being prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Children are normally prepared for these two sacraments in the second grade. If you have a first grader who is not attending a Catholic school, please make sure you have your child enrolled in Sacramental I of our Faith Formation program and regularly attending the class.

If you have older children who have not yet received either of these two sacraments, please give me a call so we may arrange to have them prepared.

Volunteer Catechists:

We are in need of additional catechists. If you enjoy working with preschool and elementary aged children, please prayerfully give this some consideration. Our materials are very user-friendly. You may give me a call for more information.

Religious Education Registration Forms

Pre-school
Jennifer Wong, Pastoral Assistant for Young Families and Children

Holy Rosary Parish offers faith formation for preschool 3’s, 4’s and kindergarten children who are not attending a Catholic school on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 Mass from October to May.  We ask that a child be three by August 31st in order to enroll in the fall.  Adult/high school volunteers of the parish teach the sessions.  We use the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies – SEEDS series for 3’s and 4’s – which is a lectionary-based program.  Lectionary-based catechesis integrates the catechesis of young people with the ongoing life of the parish community at Sunday Eucharist.  Its content is based on the Sunday Gospels of the liturgical year.  The skills needed for this ministry are a desire for and love of working with preschool children in the area of passing on the faith.

Elementary
Jennifer Wong, Pastoral Assistant for Young Families and Children

Holy Rosary offers faith formation on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:45  for grades 1 through junior high for those children who do not attend a Catholic school.  The sessions are offered from October through May with adult volunteers from the parish teaching the classes.  A desire to work with children and a love of passing on the faith are definite requirements in this ministry.  Call to Faith is the current program in place and it is very user-friendly for the teachers.  For further information or to volunteer, please contact Jennifer Wong.

Adult
JoAnn Tobin, Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation

The mission of the Adult Faith Formation Commission is to develop rewarding programs and catechesis that enrich the spiritual lives of adult members of the parish. The Commission is guided by “Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us,” a pastoral plan for Adult Faith Formation, issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 1999.

We’re interested in a diverse group of parish members, representing all age groups. We are looking for those who have a passion for exploring new ways of presenting adult religious education in the Catholic tradition and would work well in a team environment. The Commission members will be developing the parish’s plan for adult faith formation in the coming months and we are always looking for creative ideas from the Holy Rosary faith community.

Youth
Patrick Barredo, Pastoral Associate

Holy Rosary’s youth ministry program serves the Church by leading teens closer to Christ by encouraging vibrant Eucharistic celebrations and opportunities for teens to grow in their faith. Youth ministry should empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, draw them to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic Church, and foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each youth. If you would like to become involved in the youth program, whether you are a teen, or as a volunteer, please contact Patrick

Returning Catholics
JoAnn Tobin, Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation

Holy Rosary offers at various times during the year a series of sessions to help the returning Catholic return to the sacraments and regular church attendance. Sessions on the Mass, liturgy and the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, prayer and Scripture are among the topics covered plus an opportunity for participants to share their stories. Holy Rosary staff and volunteers from the parish facilitate the sessions. The ministerial needs for the Returning Catholic are good listening skills, a non-judgmental attitude and a comfort level in facilitating small groups.
